VANCOUVER, BC (Feb. 12) – With no training scheduled until next Tuesday, childhood friends and 2010 U.S. Olympic Team aerialists Jeret Peterson (Boise, ID) and Emily Cook (Belmont, MA) woke up at 2 a.m. local time Friday morning in Vancouver to meet Matt Lauer and the crew of NBC's Today Show.

"This is so fun," said Cook. "Their venue up here is amazing. I'm so excited we had the chance to come up here."

Besides morning TV royalty, Cook and Peterson met other athletes and singer Michael Buble, who performed no more than 10 feet away from them.

"It was the coolest green room I've ever seen," Cook said.

Peterson said he was "blown away" by all the people who waited through the night to hold signs and cheer throughout the outdoor interview.
"There were people here from 9:30 last night, it's now about 5 o'clock in the morning and they are still out there rocking," the three-time Olympian said.

With Opening Ceremony tonight, the aerialists have a busy Friday of taking in the Olympic experience.

"It's always my favorite part," Peterson said.
